A medium-length documentary by Amy Miller (2022)
Despite a tumultuous childhood, marked by hardship and adversity, Muội Hồng continues to dream of a life as an artist. Her early years were filled with challenges that shaped her resilience and determination. As a queer single mother navigating the complex and often restrictive landscape of traditional Vietnamese culture, she encounters daily obstacles and societal expectations that seek to confine her. Yet, she refuses to be deterred. Finding solace, strength, and self-expression in the vibrant world of hip hop dance, Muội Hồng discovers a community that embraces her individuality and supports her artistic aspirations. Through her passion for this art form, she uncovers a sense of belonging and purpose, allowing her to authentically embrace her identity and pursue her dreams. Her journey is a testament to the power of art to heal, inspire, and transform lives, and a reminder that even in the face of adversity, the human spirit can prevail.
